The cast of Borderlands is finally coming together. The latest confirmed cast member is Creed II star Florian Munteanu.

Directed by Eli Roth, Borderlands is an adaptation of the bestselling video game franchise. The games (Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and Borderlands 3) have sold over 45 million copies combined. According to an exclusive story from The Hollywood Reporter, Florian Munteanu is in final negotiations to join the Borderlands movie. Munteanu — best known for playing  Viktor Drago in Creed II — joins the impressive cast as Krieg, alongside Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina. So far, Borderlands boasts a star-studded lineup also featuring Jamie Lee Curtis (Dr. Tannis), Cate Blanchett (Lilith),  Jack Black (Claptrap), and Kevin Hart.

Munteanu shared his excitement for the role in an Instagram post. “Here we go,” he said. “So hyped for this one. Fell in love with the role immediately once I had my eyes on it. Can’t wait to bring Krieg.”

His character Krieg is a strong, muscular man who carries a buzz ax. He is the protector of  Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt). Munteanu looks and appears perfect for the role. And Eli Roth expressed how happy he is with the casting in a statement:

So far, Kevin Hart is the only actor in the cast who doesn’t have a named role. However, given his description, many fans believe he will play Roland, a mercenary from the first game.

Munteanu is a busy man. Besides Borderlands, he’s also set to appear in Marvel Studios’ upcoming MCU movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on July 9.
