Fans of the Borderlands series may have been tripped up by a handful of cameos and new notable characters in the Borderlands 3 game. A good number of them are from previous games. However, some of them are making their way over from Tales From the Borderlands game, a Telltale Games title. A notable character you first meet when in the new game is Vaughn, the leader of the Sun Crushers. Those who knew him previously recognize him as Rhys’ best friend, the Money Man. And yes, Gearbox Software brought in the same voice actor.
Vaughn’s Voice Actor from Borderlands 3
Chris Hardwick still plays Vaughn. You may recognize this name from numerous television show appearances from The Legend of Korra, Video Game High School, Family Guy, Talking Dead, Talking Saul, Talking Preacher, and innumerable others. He also appeared in Lego Dimensions as the Green Arrow.
Hardwick’s most notable video game voice role comes from the Borderlands franchise. Not only did he appear in Tales From the Borderlands and Borderlands 3 titles, but he reprised his role as Vaughn in the Borderlands 2 DLC, Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary. The DLC story was made to connect the stories of Borderlands 2 and 3 to make more sense going into the new series. For those who played the DLC, many may have been waiting to see Vaughn come back into the game.
We may see Hardwick return to the character in future DLC. Vaughn might get a more significant role, due to his history with Tales of the Borderlands. Time will tell if Gearbox Software wants to do more. We hope they do, and Hardwick plays a great character.
