Eleven Arts announced on Monday that it and Shout! Factory will release a Blu-ray version of the anime movie Blue Thermal. With this announcement, the company also streamed an English subtitles trailer.

Originally, the film had its North American premiere at the Anime Frontier event in Fort Worth, Texas in December. The film first opened in Japan in March 2022.

Bonus features on the Blu-ray include an interview with director Masaki Tachibana and character profiles. The animated feature is known for capturing the tension and excitement of a young college student and her club. It is also known for its beautiful aerial scenery, as seen from a pilot’s point of view.

Blue Thermal On Blu-ray: Taking Flight on the Home Screen

The original Blue Thermal manga ran in Shinchosha’s Monthly Comic @Bunch magazine from April 2014 to November 2017. Shinchosa then published five compiled book volumes for the manga. Kana Ozawa then launched a prequel manga titled Blue Thermal: First Flight on the LINE Manga app in November 2021. The title ended in January 2022.

Eleven Arts describe the Blue Thermal anime movie;

“I want to experience a love that sparkles!” Arriving from Nagasaki with her wishful mantra is Tamaki Tsur, who in high school could only think about volleyball. Things don’t begin well, however, when she looks for an extracurricular club to join and proceeds to immediately ding a glider at aviation club tryouts. She is initially disillusioned with campus life. Then, Kuramochi, the club leader and glider pilot, takes Tamaki under his wing, and from the moment he takes her up for a flight in a glider, Tamaki becomes a captive of the vast beauty of the skies.

Masaki Tachibana (Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, Barakamon) directed the film at Telecom Animation Film. Natsuko Takahashi (Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, My Love Story!!) wrote the script. Currently, Toei distributes the film.

The Blue Thermal movie Blu-ray and digital release will be available.
