The conspiracy theories surrounding Abandoned and the mysterious indie studio making it, Blue Box Studios, will end once the truth is revealed on June 22. In April, a trailer for a new PS5 exclusive was posted along with a blog post on PlayStation.blog. The game’s name is Abandoned, but many believe that the game is merely a teaser for the next Hideo Kojima game. Beyond the photorealistic graphics and a “cinematic survival sim,” very little is known about the game or the studio behind it. Game director Hasan Kahraman is even more of a mystery, as there isn’t any solid information about past projects he’s worked on.

Over the past week, Blue Box tweeted out teasers about Abandoned and its company. One of which was that the game’s real name started with an “S” and ended with an “L.” Almost immediately, the internet believed that Abandoned was really a new Silent Hill. The conspiracy went further with the idea that Kahraman was not the real director but Hideo Kojima. These implications stem from a similar situation with the PS4 P.T demo, which turned out to be the canceled Silent Hills. Blue Box had to apologize for any confusion and denied the connections to Kojima or Silent Hill. The conspiracies began anew after Blue Box teased that its company name doesn’t refer to the color blue but rather stands for something else.

Company fact: BLUE doesn’t refer to the color, it refers to something else.

Can you guess it?

B.L.U.E.

Many online believe that “B.L.U.E” stands for “Best Level User Experience,” while others think it refers to the box in the Death Stranding Director’s Cut reveal trailer. Kojima has been at the center of speculation about his next project since Death Stranding’s release. Everything from an Xbox exclusive to the remake of Metal Gear has circulated without confirmation.

However, according to a report by Gamer.NL, the previously announced PS5 trailer app will launch on June 22. In addition to the trailer app, Summer Games Fest’s Geoff Keighley will also be posting images and other information about the game at the same time the trailer app launches. The app itself uses the PS5 to render in real-time, making for an immersive experience that players can’t control for whatever trailers are posted. It seems that Kahraman is alluding to other content, like game demos, which could make its way on the app as well. With all the confusion surrounding the situation, anything less than a Kojima project may break the internet. Yet, if the new game isn’t a Kojima project, PlayStation fans should still be willing to give the game a shot, considering how many prominent names have weighed in on it.

Blue Box Studios is either a fake game company, a Kojima Productions affiliated studio, or an indie studio with the world’s attention. Regardless of what happens on June 22, this story has drawn more attention to the developers and the PS5 in ways a marketing executive would grovel over. The only thing to do now is to wait and see.
